4-8-24 THOUGHTS
A most familiar selection this morning is a prayer from Paul for the Church at Ephesus. Let’s borrow this prayer and apply it to ourselves. Our being “filled up to all the fullness of God” is surely a proper and noble goal for us. This is a closer walk with God idea. As we are strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, things begin to happen in our lives. Paul wants Christ to dwell in their hearts through faith! What is contemplated here is an ALIVE, POWERFUL, FOUNDED RELATIONSHIP with our God! This disciple is not “ho-humming” his/her way through life! This is the sheep that has HEARD IT’S MASTER’S VOICE! [from John 10 last evening]
Eph 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
My Prayer:
Father, we want to be good sheep, following sheep. Fill us up to Your fullness. May Your power work within us, and may we be strengthened by You in our “inner man”. Root us and ground us that we may be able to comprehend every dimension of Your glory. Give us a ”fire in the belly” to serve You joyfully. We ask that Christ will dwell in our hearts through a powerful faith that sustains. We praise and love you, O God of Eternity. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
